Tucked away in the pristine natural landscape of a Peloponnese coast, CALLISTÓ is a sensitive transformation of two neglected 1970s homes and adjoining warehouses into a contemporary countryside retreat. Designed to feel intimate and open, traditional and modern, this project brings together careful renovation and state-of-the-art systems to create a truly timeless experience
Timeless Renovation
MERGING TRADITION WITH PURPOSE
The original structures were not demolished but reimagined. Two core villas were developed, along with detached guest cottages, forming a harmonious complex that respects the area's rural character. Traditional pitched roofs and stonework were retained in guest cottages and gym, while main buildings retain their flat roofs converted into lounge areas and mini-golf court. Interiors were reconfigured with open-plan layouts, muted colours, and large openings that invite the landscape inside.
Modern comforts were subtly introduced through discreet but powerful upgrades: reinforced structural elements, new load-bearing strategies, external thermal insulations and concealed infrastructure allowed the addition of advanced systems.
The Projects
TECHNICAL COMFORT, INVISIBLE LUXURY
CALLISTÓ is designed for year-round use. Underfloor heating powered by heat pumps ensures warmth in cooler months, while custom shading, high-performance glazing, fan coils and natural ventilation keep the space cool in summer. Smart home systems control lighting and climate discreetly, ensuring efficiency and comfort without fuss. Everything works quietly in the background—elegant, effortless, and intelligent.
WELLNESS-FOCUSED OUTDOOR LIVING
A bespoke pool wraps around the main terraces, visually connecting the various spaces and offering distinct areas for dining, lounging, and swimming. A garden gym and a private spa overlook the surrounding landscape, while Mediterranean planting creates pockets of privacy and shade throughout the site. A sunken garden with a fire pit provides the ultimate winter garden experience by protecting from the cool wind yet allowing for star gazing and open air evenings.
The landscaping strategy respects local ecology, using native species and permeable surfaces to soften the boundaries between built and natural. A bio orchard complements the wellness character of the retreat.
